SAUDI ARABIA OPENS 44 NEW MOUNTAIN TOURISM SITES THIS SUMMER

By Publisher Ray Carmen

Saudi Arabia is continuing its remarkable tourism transformation by opening 44 new mountain tourism investment sitesacross the spectacular Aseer Region, giving visitors even more reasons to discover one of the Middle East’s most breathtaking highland destinations.

While much of the world associates Saudi Arabia with vast deserts, Aseer tells a very different story. Rising more than 3,000 metres above sea level, the region is home to cool summer temperatures, lush green mountains, mist-covered valleys, dramatic cliffs and centuries-old heritage villages that seem untouched by time.

The new tourism sites are designed to encourage private investment while expanding the range of experiences available to visitors. They include locations for mountain resorts, cafés, restaurants, family attractions, adventure tourism, outdoor recreation and cultural experiences, all aimed at strengthening the region’s growing tourism economy.

The initiative forms part of Saudi Arabia’s wider Vision 2030 strategy, which seeks to diversify the Kingdom’s economy by developing world-class tourism destinations. Alongside the new investment opportunities, the Aseer Summer Season 2026 features more than 100 bookable experiences and over 120 cultural, entertainment and sporting events, with expectations of attracting more than three million visitors this summer.

Visitors can explore famous destinations such as Abha, the colourful heritage village of Rijal Almaa, mountain hiking trails, scenic cable cars, traditional markets and panoramic viewpoints overlooking some of the Arabian Peninsula’s most stunning landscapes.

Saudi Arabia’s tourism story is evolving rapidly. From futuristic mega-projects on the Red Sea to ancient UNESCO World Heritage sites and now its cool mountain retreats, the Kingdom is showcasing a side that many international travellers have never seen before.

As World of 7 continues to explore remarkable destinations across the globe, Aseer stands out as one of this summer’s most surprising mountain escapes.
