DISCOVER THE CARIBBEAN BY YACHT

The Caribbean was made to be discovered from the sea.

Its islands rise from waters of blue, turquoise and emerald. Each has its own history, culture, landscape and rhythm, yet they are united by the trade winds that have carried sailors through the region for centuries.

The British Virgin Islands provide one of the easiest introductions to Caribbean sailing. Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke and Anegada are close enough for relaxed island-hopping, while sheltered waters provide numerous anchorages.

Further south, Antigua offers historic English Harbour, Nelson’s Dockyard and hundreds of beaches. Its sailing heritage comes alive during Antigua Sailing Week.

St Barthélemy combines a beautiful harbour with French-Caribbean elegance, while St Martin and Anguilla offer contrasting cultures and magnificent beaches within a relatively compact cruising area.

The Grenadines deliver one of the Caribbean’s great yachting journeys. Sail from St Vincent towards Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Mayreau, Union Island and the Tobago Cays.

Grenada provides fragrant hills, welcoming marinas and access to the southern Caribbean. Saint Lucia offers the dramatic Pitons, while Dominica rewards visiting sailors with rainforests, waterfalls and a wild natural coastline.

The Bahamas provide another world entirely: shallow aquamarine seas, remote cays and long stretches of white sand.

Travelling by yacht allows visitors to experience several Caribbean nations while avoiding crowded airports and rigid itineraries.

It also encourages a slower and more personal relationship with the islands.
